The Weakerthans @ 9:30 ClubRather than post photo galleries I’m toying with the idea of incorporating pictures into the narrative- basically a ‘blog’…. This is the first attempt.  The Weakerthans played at the 9:30 club shortly after I arrived in DC. The opening act was really good but more on that later.
I went alone to the show- having never been to the U-Street/Cordozo neighborhood, I was a little scared of the area. I definitely don’t advise going to a show out there alone only because when the event is over around 11:30 you’re by yourself getting to and then riding the metro… Just like any city, hanging out alone late at night encourages weirdo’s and drug addicts who become incredibly friendly and entitled late at night.  The show was amazing. The venue, although in a sketchy part of town is beautiful, the sound system is very nice. I don’t know if the Weakerthans have videos or get Clear Channel airplay… the crowd in attendance seemed a little more MTV friendly than I had expected. Not wanting to have to deal with the hassle of sacrificing personal space, I stood towards the back. When the band started the crowd rushed towards the stage and packed in tightly. After spending WAY to long working on this very breif entry it seems that this 'blog' format is turning out to be a complete hassel... |
